How pricing works

Every stump is different, so every price starts with a free estimate. You get a firm number in writing before any grinding starts.

What sets the price

Six things go into every quote, the same six for every yard. Know them and you will know exactly what your number is built on.

Diameter at ground level

We measure the stump across at ground level. More width is more wood, more grinding, and more time, so width is the biggest factor.

How many stumps

Extra stumps on the same visit cost less per stump, because the machine is already there. Clearing the whole yard in one visit is the smart play.

Hardwood or softwood

Oak and hickory chew slow and work the teeth hard. Pine and poplar grind quick and easy. The wood shapes the quote before we name a number.

Surface roots

A wide root flare means more grinding beyond the trunk. Chasing the roots out is part of the job, and part of the quote, up front.

Access

Gates, fences, slopes, and steps all change the setup. A stump in the open is quick work; one tucked behind a fence takes more doing, and the quote says so honestly.

Mulch stays with you

The mulch stays with you, raked back into the hole, spread out, or piled where you point. It settles in as fill and ground cover. We grind, we do not haul.

Tell us the basics

Your town, the number of stumps, and a rough size, in the form below. That is all we need to start.

2

Send a photo when we reply

Our email reply asks for a photo of each stump with something in it for scale, a boot or a can does fine.

3

Get your firm price in writing

The estimate is free, and the firm number lands in your inbox before any grinding is scheduled.

Start your estimate

We reply by email within 1 business day. Grinding starts January 2027, and estimates before then go to the front of the spring list.

Gone stumpin'!
Measure across, flare included

How to measure your stump

Measure straight across the top of the stump at its widest point, right at ground level. If the roots flare out wider than the trunk, include the flare. That one number does most of the pricing work, and it is the number we will ask for when we reply.

One honest note: before any grind, utility lines get marked. The 811 locates are free, and we build that into scheduling. It protects your yard and our teeth, the grinder's and Adam's.

Fair questions

Below ground level, deep enough to seed, sod, or plant right over the spot. Surface roots radiating from the stump get chased out too, so the mower stops bouncing.

The mulch stays with you, raked back into the hole, spread out, or piled where you point. It settles in as fill and ground cover. We grind, we do not haul. That is the normal way stump grinding works everywhere: the mulch is part of the job, not a load somebody takes away.

Grinding takes the stump down below grade and leaves the deeper roots to settle into the soil on their own. Full removal digs the whole root ball out and leaves a crater to fill. For most yards, grinding is the cleaner and kinder option.

Yes. Utility lines get marked before any grind. The marking is free, it is required, and we build it into the scheduling so nothing underground gets a surprise.

No. Stumps only. If a tree still needs to come down, have your tree crew drop it and leave the stump low, and we will take it from there.
